How do you want to be?


Something a lot of my clients are finding helpful is spending a few moments each day imagining themselves as they want to be, pain free, joyful, feeling hopeful and excited, or whatever it is that you want to be your reality.



If you want to try this, pick something that you do every day and do it immediately afterwards so that there is a consistent trigger / reminder to do it.


Either using a memory from the past or something that you have made up completely, access what it would be like to feel pain free, joyful, feeling hopeful and excited.

  • Make sure that you are looking as if out your own eyes

  • Pick a specific date / time not too far in the future and know that this is you at that specific time

  • Pick a specific location (like at home, leaving the house, at a particular bus stop etc)

  • Connect to what it feels like – where do you feel it in your body? How intense is it? (?Feeling of lightness? Fluttery heart?? Etc)

  • Connect to what you can see around you and is it vibrant, dull, bright – what qualities do you see?

  • Connect to any sounds that you can hear around you – do they sound exciting? Overwhelming? Inspiring?)

  • Connect to any smells or tastes and notice if they are intense or subtle, sweet or bitter)

  • Check in with what you are saying to yourself in that moment.

  • Have that future you look back at you now and wave see you soon in a friendly way.


It will take 10-30 seconds and works best daily or several times a day – try it for a week and see how you feel!!
