It is easy to convince our unconscious mind that we have no power over something.
For example:
I have a terrible relationship with him…
That sounds out of my control, right?
It’s something that I have, which has an intrinsic value of being terrible.
VS
I am not relating well to him…
That sounds like something I have some control or influence over does it not?
It is something that I am currently doing which could change.
I have anxiety / VS / I am experiencing anxiety; one is fixed, one can change.
I have a strategy / VS / I am strategizing; one is inflexible, one is dynamic.
The language that we choose to use to describe what is going on for us shapes our unconscious sense of our power over events.
By bringing awareness to our own language patterns (in the way we speak to others and ourselves), we can empower ourselves to make different choices and tap into our enormous reserves of unconscious power.
We can give ourselves options that did not previously seem possible to us.
Ever been stuck on a motorway travelling in a direction that you never wanted to go?
Taking ownership of our own language patterns is like finding an off-ramp and a road that leads in the direction that we want to go.
Do you want power and influence over your actions?
Or do you want an explanation for why you can’t change?
